A few important reminders from the Bylaw Enforcement Division. Slow down and remember to watch for pedestrians. Property maintenance including mowing and trimming of vegetation and trees. Throw litter in garbage or recycling cans not on the ground.
When traveling in our community remember to obey the posted speed limit of 40 km/h on main roadways, 30 km/h within school and playground zones, and 15 km/h in back alleys. Instead of speeding, leave a few minutes earlier it could save a life. For more information about traffic safety refer to Traffic Bylaw 876/18 posted under Government.
Property maintenance is a bylaw priority in Bassano as established in the Beautify Bassano Initiative (BBI). Community Standards Bylaw 920/21 is strictly enforced, and fines will be levied on unmaintained property in all residential and commercial districts. This should come as no surprise as the town is 5 years into its implementation of the BBI strategy. Remember, it is your responsibility to maintain all four sides of your property including your boulevard/backyard. The town does not permit the storage of abandoned, derelict, or inoperable vehicles in residential districts. If there are trees on your property ensure their growth does not impede public property (sidewalks, Stop signs, or street markers). Trees cannot impede corner visibility.
Take advantage of the bi-weekly branch pick-up provided at no extra cost to residents. For more information on the branch pick-up program refer to Tree Maintenance under Serving You.
