Bassano is ready for development, and we invite you to build in our community.

To support your investment ideas and to help grow our community several development incentives have been adopted. The incentives were developed with the community in mind and they strike a balance to enable a variety of residential and commercial growth options.

All development incentives have unique terms and are time-bound. Take advantage of these value-added incentives before 2025!

Residential Incentives

BUILD Bassano – Residential Housing Development Incentive Policy

The purpose of this development incentive is to:

1. Stimulate residential development in Bassano.
2. To ensure there is quality housing options for people that choose to live and work in Bassano.
3. To improve the housing market and the variety of housing stick in Bassano.
4. To help solve the rental shortage in Bassano.
5. To support local businesses and industry.

Revitalization Development

Revitalize a privately owned vacant, abandoned, derelict or poorly conditioned residential property and receive a municipal tax credit of up to $10,000.

Add a residential backyard suite to a privately owned residential property and receive a municipal tax credit up to $10,000 (building conversions apply).

Residential Incentives For Vacant Land

BUILD Bassano – Residential Vacant Land Development Incentive Policy

The purpose of this development incentive is to:

1. Stimulate residential development in Bassano.
2. To ensure there is quality housing options for people that choose to live and work in Bassano.
3. To improve the housing market and the variety of housing stick in Bassano.
4. To help solve the rental shortage in Bassano.
5. To support local businesses and industry.
6. To encourage investments that will grow Bassano.

Vacant Land

The Town opted all municipally owned vacant land under fair market value while offering municipal tax credits up to $10,000. All lands were sold by December 31, 2023. Purchasers have 6-months to submit their development plans for approval and one-year after to build. Any buyer that fails to meet their commitments must return the land to the Town. If any lands are returned, the Town will repost them publicly for purchase. Opportunities will be posted at here and on realtor.ca.

Commercial Incentives

BUILD Bassano – Commercial Development Incentive Policy

The purpose of this development incentive is to:

1. Stimulate commercial development in Bassano.
2. To support business expansion that leads to job growth in Bassano.
3. To create stability within the local economy and business community.
4. To support local businesses.
5. To encourage investments that will grow Bassano.

New Commercial & Industrial Builds

If you build a new commercial or industrial development in Bassano with a minimum assessed values of 250,000 you are eligible for a municipal tax credit of up to $25,000.

No Fire Ban

FIRE BAN DEFINITIONS

The Town of Bassano has an active FIRE BAN. A Fire Ban means no fires except for approved gas or propane cooking appliances.

The Town of Bassano has an active Fire Restriction. A Fire Restriction means no fires except for approved gas or propane cooking appliances, portable fire pits or campfires in designated fire sites within approved campgrounds.

The Town of Bassano has an active Fire Advisory. A Fire Advisory means fires are allowed but public warning advising of extreme caution is issued. This level is a warning and may be upgraded to a Fire Restriction of Fire Ban if conditions do not approve. Always have water nearby and fully extinguish your fire.

The Town of Bassano has NO ACTIVE FIRE BAN.
