PACE Canada Solar Project – Proposed Development

PACE Canada LP has proposed the construction of a 15MW solar farm within the town’s corporate limits on private land (SE ¼ 18-21-18 W4M). To keep current on the solar farm developments, information about the proposed project will be updated here. No decision has been made regarding the proposed solar farm development.

The project was initially introduced to council at their November 20, 2023 meeting. With the provincial government recently lifting the moratorium on renewable energy projects, PACE is taking steps to advance the solar farm project in Bassano. The first town hall meeting was held on May 15, 2024. More town hall meetings were held throughout the year with the most recent being September 25, 2024. Information obtained at these meetings will be used by PACE as they plan their proposed development.

PACE Canada delegate Rhonda Barron attended the council meeting to provide an update on their intention to proceed with the solar farm development now that the provincial moratorium was lifted.

In accordance with the Town’s Land Use Bylaw 921/21 a sign permit was issued to PACE Canada with a confirmation to commence development (installation of a sign) of April 8, 2024.

PACE is holding a final and virtual public consultation for the proposed Bassano Solar project on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.

FIRE BAN DEFINITIONS

The Town of Bassano has an active FIRE BAN. A Fire Ban means no fires except for approved gas or propane cooking appliances.

The Town of Bassano has an active Fire Restriction. A Fire Restriction means no fires except for approved gas or propane cooking appliances, portable fire pits or campfires in designated fire sites within approved campgrounds.

The Town of Bassano has an active Fire Advisory. A Fire Advisory means fires are allowed but public warning advising of extreme caution is issued. This level is a warning and may be upgraded to a Fire Restriction of Fire Ban if conditions do not approve. Always have water nearby and fully extinguish your fire.

The Town of Bassano has NO ACTIVE FIRE BAN.
