Program Description

NFEC serves adults in the County of Newell. Our goal is to teach basic literacy, numeracy, digital skills and foundational life skills.

MHC Brooks Campus is situated in Brooks, Alberta offering courses ranging from adult basic education and ESL training to the two-year Practical Nurse Diploma Program.

Prevention and promotion services are offered to help prevent and reduce harm related to substance use and gambling.

Pioneer Damsiters is a warm and welcoming Group 50+ offering many recreational activities in Bassano, Ab.

Bridges Family Programs offers a variety of programs and services for families.

The Brooks Food Bank Foundation provides emergency food assistance and referral services.

The Brooks Toy Library provides a wide selection of toys, games, and family resources for a small yearly membership.

Cantera Safe House is a domestic violence service near Brooks, AB providing help for people dealing with domestic abuse.

Lifetalk provides counselling and seminars, based biblical truth. Serving Brooks, AB and surrounding area with subsidies available for those in need.

McMan works to support and encourage individuals and families to achieve their full potential as members of their community.

Meals on Wheels Program is for those who are unable to make their own meals. Meals are delivered hot, Monday through Friday. Meals are prepared by the Playfair Lodge and can be ordered through the Town of Bassano by contact 403-641-3788

Through our programs and services, REDI is able to foster independence and help to make space for people living with disabilities to live a full and rich life.

SPEC provides direct client service to adults, children and newcomers in areas related to parenting, family, health, unemployment, lack of housing, language barriers, education. literacy, financial, and addictions.

Victim services provide invaluable assistance to victims who are often confused, overwhelmed and unsure of how to react after a crime, accident or sudden death has occurred.

Financial Supports

Description

Supports for individuals and families to pay for basic expenses like food, clothing and shelter.

Seniors with low-income can get financial assistance to help with monthly living expenses.

Financial and health benefits for eligible Albertans with a permanent medical condition that prevents them from earning a living.

Eligible lower- to middle-income families can apply for child care subsidies if they have a child enrolled in a licensed childcare program.

If you are facing an unexpected emergency, you can apply for emergency financial assistance.

There are a variety of programs and services to help you ensure your later years are safe and secure.

Newell Foundation administers a Rental Assistance Benefit to assist people in need with their rental costs. This is a program for persons or families who are renting through private landlords.

Low-interest home equity loans can cover a range of home adaptations and renovations to help seniors stay in their homes longer.

Eligible senior homeowners can defer all or part of their municipal property taxes with a low-interest home equity loan.

St. Vincent de Paul provides emergency assistance to individuals and families in need. Call to make an appointment.

Meals on Wheels 

Bassano FCSS and Playfair Lodge have teamed up to ensure community members have access to healthy home-cooked meals, daily at an affordable price. Meals are delivered to your door thanks to a dedicated group of volunteer drivers.

FIRE BAN DEFINITIONS

The Town of Bassano has an active FIRE BAN. A Fire Ban means no fires except for approved gas or propane cooking appliances.

The Town of Bassano has an active Fire Restriction. A Fire Restriction means no fires except for approved gas or propane cooking appliances, portable fire pits or campfires in designated fire sites within approved campgrounds.

The Town of Bassano has an active Fire Advisory. A Fire Advisory means fires are allowed but public warning advising of extreme caution is issued. This level is a warning and may be upgraded to a Fire Restriction of Fire Ban if conditions do not approve. Always have water nearby and fully extinguish your fire.

The Town of Bassano has NO ACTIVE FIRE BAN.
